Champion Timber has selected the cloud-native GenetiQ platform after a rigorous market review confirmed it was the strongest fit for the business. After 17 years on the same ERP system, the company set out to modernize core processes, improve transaction speed, and get more value from its processes and data. While the legacy platform remained functional, innovation had slowed as it approached end-of-life and the vendor’s focus shifted to a successor platform.
To guide the selection, Champion Timber ran a structured review, assessing leading solutions against five priorities: stock management, production planning, efficiency, reporting and profitability. When vendors were assessed against those requirements, GenetiQ emerged as the strongest overall fit - particularly for usability at the sales counter, transaction speed and reporting.
“In demonstrations against our requirements, GenetiQ came out on top in most areas compared to the competition,” Glen Murphy, Operations Director said. “It looked like a very fluid system, easy for our staff to navigate so they can deal with customers quickly and efficiently.”
Additionally, Champion Timber wanted to avoid repeating the constraints they’d experienced with their legacy system.
“One thing we got from GenetiQ was that, while it’s a strong system, there’s plenty of flexibility too,” Glen Murphy explained. “We felt other systems were quite rigid and wouldn’t enable us to be agile in the future.”
GenetiQ’s REST API gives Champion Timber a clear path to connect with other platforms as its technology landscape evolves - without being locked into the limitations typical of older ERP environments.
Access to insight was equally important.
“The reporting is phenomenal - the ability to slice and dice data at your fingertips without relying on IT to build reports is a big change for us.
For Champion Timber, selecting GenetiQ was also about choosing a platform built to keep pace with change.
“Seeing that GenetiQ is browser-based and cloud-native gave us confidence it’s built on a modern footing,” Glen Murphy added. “It gives us the flexibility and efficiency we’re looking for today, and the capacity for long-term growth.”
By upgrading to GenetiQ, Champion Timber is replacing a legacy ERP environment with a modern, browser-based LBM platform built for faster decision-making and real-time visibility.
The implementation pairs Champion Timber’s long-standing industry expertise with cloud- native, AI enabled technology to improve operational performance, enhance customer insight, and support the company’s ongoing growth plans.
