Works Order Processing
Works order processing is integrated with our 'Bill of Materials' module and offers companies that manufacture or assemble products the facility to schedule the manufacturing of these products.
In short, a 'works order' acts like an 'internal purchase order'.
When creating a works order, Intact Software allows multiple bill of materials to be added to one works order; therefore an entire week’s production can be generated by one works order.
Like all modules within Intact Software, the end user can configure how the system handles works orders and bill of materials. By setting different parameters, the end user can ensure that the system simplifies production processes and improves stock control.
One of the main advantages of using the 'Works Order Processing' module when processing 'Bill of Materials' is that Intact Software allows users the facility to add, edit or delete components of a bill of material within a works order without affecting the bill of materials master record. During the build of any finished product things can go wrong e.g components may have to be substituted, quantities increased to compensate for wastage or breakages, but Intact Software allows users to have the flexibility to make those changes.
Another purpose of a 'Works Order' is to gather the actual costs specific to a particular build and to update the stock file accordingly. This cost can then be used for margin analysis and stock valuation.
The 'Production Scheduler' works in conjunction with the 'Works Order' module and is a very useful feature that allows users to see an overview, for a user defined period, of the demand for bill of material items and the current status of existing works orders.
By incorporating the production scheduler and minimum production quantities into Intact and the works order Module, users will have all the tools necessary to implement and create greater production efficiencies into their business.
