R&D paves the way for future growth

Breaking into new markets or creating new business is often a crucial factor to the survival of any company.  Fortunately for forward-thinking, Intact Software, their continuous investment in R&D has helped them to achieve both. 

Off the back of their recent success in supplying Accounting and Business Management Software to the office supplies industry, they are now concentrating on their next generation software.  This new product is so cutting edge that a careful marketing and release strategy is still being finalised.  Paul Marry, Managing Director of Intact Software, believes,

“Many businesses plan to weather the current economic storm but smart businesses use this time to build for the future.  That’s simply what we’re doing. It’s not a question of if, it’s a question of when the economy will rise again and we want to be ready for it when it does.”

Intact Software has been providing smart accounting and business software to several key industries over the past 17 years building up a catalogue of high profiled customers, the most recent of which includes the Amalgamated Hardware Group. 

Noting an obvious niche in the office supplies sector over a year ago, they set to work developing a software solution specifically designed for this industry.  By working closely with leading office suppler, Jones Business Systems, a tailored solution was developed.  According to Michael Condon, Managing Director of Jones Business Systems,

“The office suppliers market is so competitive that we need to be smart to outshine our rivals.  The Intact office supplies solution has given us the ability to do just that.  The most exciting aspect of this project is the potential of the system we haven’t tapped into yet”.

As well as breaking into new markets, Intact Software is working on a new product in its advanced stages.  The development team’s recent move to DKIT’s Regional Development Centre has given them access to much needed resources to get them over the finishing line.  Details of the new product have yet to be announced but it is due to be put on a beta test site in September and ready for market in early in 2010.
